Privacy Policy
AI Translate is provided by Reason Span Technologies, LLC (“Reason Span,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how AI Translate accesses, processes, uses, and discloses information when you use the app.
1. Information AI Translate processes
Microphone and voice audio. AI Translate uses the microphone when you start or enable voice translation. Depending on the selected language and device configuration, speech may be processed by the Android speech-recognition service available on your device or transmitted securely to Reason Span’s cloud backend for speech transcription.
Translation text and transcripts. Speech-recognition text and translation-request content are transmitted to our backend when cloud translation is required. The resulting translation may also be processed to generate spoken audio.
Text-to-speech content. When spoken playback is enabled, translated text may be transmitted to our backend and an AI service provider to generate audio playback.
Bluetooth and smart-glasses information. Optional smart-glasses features may use Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy to discover and communicate with supported nearby devices. AI Translate does not use Bluetooth scan information to infer or build a profile of your physical location. On older Android versions, the operating system may associate Bluetooth scanning with legacy location permissions.
Network and operational information. Our servers receive network information needed to establish and secure connections. The production service may use a request network address transiently for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Operational records may include request identifiers, language direction, response status, processing times, and character counts.
Support and privacy correspondence. If you contact us, we process your email address and the information you choose to include so we can answer your inquiry and handle applicable privacy requests. Please do not send passwords, API keys, or unnecessary sensitive conversation content.
2. How information is used
We use information processed through AI Translate to:
- provide speech recognition, translation, and spoken translation playback;
- operate optional smart-glasses features;
- maintain service reliability and security;
- prevent abuse and excessive automated requests; and
- diagnose technical failures when necessary.
We do not use translation content for advertising or to build advertising profiles.
3. Service providers
AI Translate relies on service providers that process data on our behalf to operate the service. These currently include:
- Railway, for cloud application hosting and network delivery; and
- OpenAI, for certain speech transcription, translation, and text-to-speech processing.
Your device may also use an Android or device-manufacturer speech-recognition service for supported speech input. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API customer opts in. Retention depends on the API endpoint, features, and account settings. Certain content and technical records may be retained for abuse monitoring, application operation, or legal obligations. AI Translate does not promise zero retention by all providers.
4. Retention
AI Translate is designed not to maintain a user account or permanent conversation history on Reason Span’s production backend.
Temporary uploaded audio files are used to service the request and are designed to be deleted during backend request cleanup. Service-provider retention is separate. This does not promise immediate deletion of device caches, historical logs, or provider-held information.
Reason Span retains operational and security records only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve service reliability, subject to hosting-provider settings and applicable legal obligations. The current successful cloud-audio completion log records metadata such as request identifiers, language direction, processing times, and character counts rather than transcript, interpreted-source, or translated sentence content.
Earlier pre-release diagnostic logs may have contained conversation text. The production logging correction does not by itself erase historical provider-held records, which remain subject to the relevant provider’s retention and deletion controls.
5. Data sharing
Reason Span does not sell personal information or translation content. We provide data to service providers only as needed to operate AI Translate, secure the service, comply with law, or protect rights and safety. Service providers process data under their own contractual and legal obligations.
6. Security
AI Translate uses HTTPS/TLS connections for communication with the production backend. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information in transit and to limit unnecessary retention. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Your choices
You can deny or revoke microphone permission in Android settings, although voice translation will not function without microphone access. Bluetooth permissions are only needed for optional smart-glasses functionality; the core phone translation experience does not require smart glasses. You can stop voice listening at any time from the app. You may also uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data controlled by Android.
8. Data deletion and privacy requests
AI Translate does not currently require a user account. Because translation requests are not stored under a persistent user account, Reason Span may not always be able to identify a specific anonymous request after it has been processed.

9. Children’s privacy
AI Translate is not directed to children under 13. If Reason Span later chooses to target children or families, the app, disclosures, and data practices will be reviewed and updated before doing so.
10. International processing
Cloud processing may occur in locations where Reason Span and its service providers operate. Information may therefore be processed outside your state or country, subject to applicable law and service-provider safeguards.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when AI Translate’s features, service providers, or data practices change. We will update the effective date and, when appropriate, provide additional notice.
